What You’ll Need

Basic hand tools

  • 5 mm, 4 mm & 3 mm Allen keys (quality T-handle or ratchet bits)
  • 8 mm, 10 mm, 14 mm sockets / wrenches
  • Torx T25 for rotor bolts
  • Large flat-head or cold-chisel + dead-blow mallet (crate nails)
  • Torque wrench  1.5 – 18 ft-lb (18 – 220 in-lb) range
  • High-strength blue Loctite
  • Soft-face drift or long screwdriver (to push greased axle)
  • Zip-ties & side-cutters
  • Bike stand or strong bucket (lifts rear wheel)
  • Nitrile gloves & shop towels (grease + Loctite)

Step-by-Step Altis Sigma / Sigma MX Assembly Guide

1. Crack the Crate Like a Pro

  1. Put on gloves—the steel edging is razor-sharp.
  2. Lift each staple band with a chisel, then bend upright with pliers; work around all four sides.
  3. Pro tip: Preserve the crate sides as storage panels—only remove the front or left wall.

2. Lift the Bike Cleanly

  • Two-person job: slide forks under the swing-arm, pivot up and over the stand.
  • Avoid gripping plastic bodywork—the CNC frame rails are the safe lift points.

3. Battery Out & On Charge

  1. Snip the shipping zip-tie, open left side cover, and grab the red + black keys.
  2. Turn ignition, flip the alloy latch and disconnect the 6-gauge QS8 plug.
  3. Wiggle the 72 V pack upward—she’s snug! Place on a non-flammable surface.
  4. Plug charger into the pack first, wall second; LED flashes red  green when ready.
Cold garage? The Sigma BMS warms to 50
    °F before charge current flows.

4. Front Wheel & Spacer Install

  1. Loosen pinch bolts, spin axle nut off (19 mm).
  2. Grease axle lightly; slide left-right spacers into hub (they’re identical).
  3. Insert “fat” axle end on brake-disc side, tap through with your drift.
  4. Torque axle nut to 44 ft-lb, then pinch bolts to 7 ft-lb alternating.

5. Cockpit & Controls

  • Bar clamp: three-piece CNC, four M8 bolts – Loctite & snug, gaps even front/back.
  • Throttle / Display:
    1. Place 2× rubber grommets on the OLED mount; bolt to top triple.
    2. Greengreen & orangeorange waterproof plugs; align arrows before pushing home.
  • Brakes: 4 mm Allen lever clamps; aim levers in line with outstretched index-finger.

6. Foot Pegs, Kick Stand & Magnet Switch

  1. Peg brackets use shoulder bolts—blue-Loctite & torque 18 ft-lb.
  2. Install kick-stand spring; adjust sensor nut so the magnet just kisses the switch when down (prevents ghost cut-outs).
  3. Verify dash shows P when stand deployed, Ready when up.

7. Calipers & Rotors

  • Slide caliper over 220 mm  8.7 in rotor; leave M8 mount bolts finger-tight.
  • Squeeze front brake, then torque caliper bolts to 18 ft-lb—instant alignment.
  • Back out each T25 rotor bolt one-at-a-time; add Loctite and torque to 4.5 ft-lb.
  • Paint-marker the heads for easy future visual inspection.

8. Re-insert Battery & Power-Up

  1. Seat pack, reconnect QS8, close hatch.
  2. NFC tricks: press seat-latch button to wake bike if tag/key is lost.
  3. Cycle through Eco, Normal, Race via triple-button cluster; test reverse by holding R and easing throttle (walk speed only).

9. Tire Pressure, Wheel Balance & Brake Bedding

  • Inflate to 32 psi cold (street) or your preferred off-road pressures.
  • Spin wheels on stand; if hop <  in (3 mm) youre goldenotherwise add stick-on weights opposite valve.
  • Bed brakes: 10 moderate stops front & rear (5 sec on / 5 sec off). Discs may “ting” as they heat—normal.

10. Final 15-Minute Bolt Walk

Grab your 4-way T-handle and verify every paint-marked fastener: axle, triple-clamp, motor mounts, foot-peg pins, swing-arm pivot, linkage bolts. Loose now beats lost on-trail.

Common Questions

Q: Does Sigma MX assemble the same way?

A: Yes—the smaller 17-inch MX follows identical steps; only axle torque and bar height differ.

Q: Do I have to run 32 psi?
A: That’s the manufacturer street spec. Drop to 18-22 psi for sand or loam but check bead-lock tightness after every ride.

Q: Where’s the regen thumb-lever?
A: Sigma brakes are full-size motorcycle units with giant pads—no weak MTB discs here. Strong mechanical braking + battery longevity beat constant regen heat.
